Love comes to Bamboo School
This few weeks have been a demonstration of the length and depth of God's love. Firstly Arthur and I had been corresponding with Albert (older brother of Arthur) about his wish to revisit Heidi...... mutual attraction that started during Christmas..... so in complete secracy, we planned and engineered Heidi to be at the airport last Friday.... Here is her version of what happened:
This past Friday we all went to Bangkok for the day (the teachers). I had to get my passport and Visa sorted out...I now have a work permit to teach english for the next year...or years...ummmm....I feel bad though because I don't think it will get much use with me. I am planing on going back in June...and so far do not know about coming back yet....but who knows what God has planned. After that we went to the airport to go pick up Cat's friend from the states that was arriving in the afternoon. Trebla was his name (wierd name if you ask me!!)...and apparently she had never met him before...but had only seen a fuzzy photo over internet. So they dutifullly made a pathetic little sign with his name on it and gave me the responsibility of holding it up high. I was told he was tall with mouse colored hair (like mine, they said). I was offended by the mousey description and retorted..."it's actually bunny rabit brown!!" The plane was late and we had to hang around for a bit...so I got bored and was bugging Arthur and trying to waste time....after a few back and forth taggings of random stuff to bug eachother...he got really giggly and pulled out his camera. i thought "man...what has he got up his sleeve this time.." so I wasn't taking my eyes off him incase he was going to do something back to me (I had just given him a wetwilly )....finally he turns to me after giggling for 30 sec. and says "LOOK"...as he points to the on-coming arrivals. I was definately not at all concerned with this random guy Trebla that was arriving with a really funny name...and was not at all doing my duty at holding up the sign very well, after it had fallen off of Arthur's forhead. Which I figured was the best place to put the sign since Arthur had bleach blond hair and stands a whole head above all the asians that were welcoming the oncomers. I finally decided to look up...and as I do I see a familiar face off in the distance. It was none other than Albert (Arthur's brother) who had come all the way from Seattle to surprise visit me. I was so stunned I pulled the "runaway Heidi stunt". And I bolted to hide behind a group of people a little further away. (Which, I have decided is my normal reaction to HUGE surprises because the last time I did that was when my mom through me a surpise going away party when I was leaving for Germany 9 years ago...and those of you who were there and saw me when I realized that it was a suprise for me...also saw we bolt out of the room and hide out in the hallway till my heart came back to "normal"). I think my heart stopped for a few seconds in the process...and I was so shocked and stood in complete unbelief that this amazing guy who I had met 2 and a half months ago would actually take a week and a half of work (again!!) and spend all this money to see ME!!! Or course I ran back pretty quick and gave him a good long hug...but it was pretty wild. Easily the BIGGEST surprise EVER!! And EVERYONE knew about it except me. Albert,Cat and Arthur have known since the end of January...all my friends in Bangkok knew...and all the kids knew at the school too for the last couple of days... Amazing that it didn't leak out!!!! Cat just laughed and said...it's a good thing you don't read names backwards or aren't dislexic!!! ( then I realized why I thought it was such a weird name for a guy ---who calls their kid Trebla?) So I guess I am still somewhat in shock at the fact that I no longer have just a picture to look at but the real live beautiful face of Al. And that is also why you are getting such a long email from me today...since he is here I don't need to spend my time emailing him as I usually do...but I can lean over and poke him right beside me ( oh I just did!! :) heehee). Anyway...so I have a week of bliss infront of me!!! And a week of Clear conversation (instead of cell phone static!!)...which is super cool and makes the time till June so so so much shorter!! :)
So...I hope mom tells the truth "that everybody loves a good love story..." Because you just got your fill in this email!! Yes, Heidi FINALLY has a boyfriend...and well...it's moving along faster that I would have ever guessed...but more amazing than I could ever have prayed for...actually he is everything AND MORE than I have prayed for...amazing how God works. A miracle really. And I think Al is crazy for doing what he did...but pretty cool that he did all that for me.
Anyway....I hope this brighted your day...as my month had been completely and drastically illuminated... Heidi
Then we had been having a few challenges about our school, from within the local church..... it appears that I have offended some of the saints by arranging the kids baptisms... and by turning kids away (this I haven't done,so ?) ...and ....and. I felt hurt by the church having two consective Sabbath meetings, without any discussion with me. My students were a little upset with the data exchanged about "their momo". It was enough of problem for me to move forward by one week, our school campout weekend. We just needed to get closer to God, away from politics. So away we went.
We had a great time up on the lakeside under canvas for Friday and sabbath. Our visitors also enjoyed the time roughing it. I prayed and prayed.... God gave me a bible verse: Deut 32:11 about getting my nest roughed up a liitle, so that I learn to fly??? Then I realised that I need to get the kids to fly according to Acts 2:17..... so in faith we stepped out. Through friends in the area, we located a piece of lakeside land and God poured out the funds to more than meet the costs.
We want to build a "temple" unto Him, overlooking the lake, a place to come aside from the earthly pressures. (The fishing is pretty good too!) Praise God for his love and kindness.
