Meanwhile, back in the Jungle
MomoCat June 28th, 2007
Its been a while since I returned to reality of the jungle. We are in the middle of rainy season, with malaria around. Therefore the days gallop past, with trips to hospital, and kids everywhere.
God continues to place his hand over us. Our recent visitors were amazed at how we sail through the police road blocks without a problem, when every other car is being stopped. The kids are all well, and we are running many village people to the hospital. We have plenty of food, work teams and evidence of God’s love every day.
Somgiet developed acute appendictis, requiring surgery in the middle of the night. Just enough fuel in the car for the quick run to Kanchanaburi, coming home on E for enough! Somgiet has recovered and back at school.
Arpisit, Lukai and Canagee have all been selected to represent their schools for English competitions. Round One has already been won by each of them, so now they begin to compete with each other! May the best kid win. Arpisit is bringing God into each speech, so maybe he will get the blessing…. and he deserves the place as he puts in the time to practice. Lukai is representing his school in sport again, as is Dek and Kum.
We took a young mother into hospital with continuous fevers. After two weeks, it has been diagnosised as Lymphoma. Her time is short. Her husband trod on a landmine last year, resulting in the loss of his foot. He had turned to alochol, and left his wife to do the income generation. She had a little baby 10 months ago. We now have her 6 year old girl and the baby at Bamboo School, as her husband cannot cope. So we count to 71 for meals now! The baby is into everything, and he is well named as More More Chore!!
Little Johann has developed a severe allergic reaction to something, resulting in rashes, swollen eyes and a fever. He is currently in hospital.
The New Zealand teams have been and gone. We are missing them. Medical clinics and fence building was the first teams role. This all took place while I was in USA. Well done guys. It resulted in the resolution to a land ownership issue. I learn to not sign land deals when people are drunk…. they do not remember the sale of land. However the written signatures held up, so the fence line has been confirmed now and posts have been adjusted.
The second team built a great playground, with challenges for all the village kids. Unfortunately one little girl fell last week when we were in school, breaking her arm. Last night she was “up the pole again”, arm in plaster…. Slow learner! Also this team built the foundations of the new tiolet block. A great job. Many memories and friendships made.
As this team left, a new set of visitors arrived. Rachelle and her faher came, to help the building work to progress. We also have started the house building for Ice Crena and Nigh.
This young couple will marry on 24th July, and continue God’s work with us. Dong has been going on with His work. During the past two weeks he has held Bible studies with 94 people, involving hours of study time…. in his free time! A dedicated young person. We have 12 students studying towards baptisim, and God abundantly blesses us.
