A buzy start to the New Year

MomoCat January 20th, 2009

Happy New Year to each of you.. I know the year started sometime ago, but pace of life here is in “Karen time”, so I am late.

Dokmai has been plagued with infections, so much so we have started investigation at Siriraj Hospital in Bangkok.  That was where we spent Christmas day, and again last week.  She is in the hospital about once a week!! Ho Hum!!

We have had the roofing completed on the new hospital, and already the floor is one fourth finished!  We have hosted and enjoyed the company of many volunteers, some individuals, some couples and one big team from JEM.  The lastest gift was a “bus” done in teakwood!!  The kids are helping me strip off the old paint and prepare it for stain and sealing showing wood grain!

God continues to bless us, and like the old bus, I need to be stripped of my paint/veneer/sins, rubbed down, and stained by the blood of Jesus.  Its time consuming for the LOrd, and he uses all grades of sandpaper to do it.  All these young people helping us, help me too!

I look forward to many old friends visiting this year, plus new ones.  The calendar is produced for us by CSW, Hong Kong has arrived. So as the days pass, we remember the kids and friends.

What does the New Year bring???

Rain… yes it is raining in the district of Sai Yok, in January.  A most unusual season for us.  Today the SDA church at Bong Ti is having their traditional feast of thanksgiving for the passed blessings, and they look forward to what the new year will bring.

I praise God for all the helpers and visitors we have had, the good things we have been blessed with and the broken things (like legs, and cars!) as well.  I know we are in His hand, so we will continue to be blessed by His spirit.

we are at the hospital saying goodbye to an elderly man, dying with cancer and TB.  We also have brought in a patient with dengue fever…. a continuing source of worry in the village.  One young boy from the local primary school died in a motorbike accident as well.

I praise God for the ongoing support for our ministry from the Sai Yok hospital (Dr. Supat, Dr Ann and Dr Trid) and that of the Mission Hospital (Dr. Sujane).  Without these professional helpers, many of our people would suffer.  Today we have dealt with more that 10 cases, giving free medicines and treatment, courtesy of these local doctors.  Praise Him for their generosity and kindness and friendship!
