Trust in the Lord

MomoCat July 20th, 2010

Bilay contacted me to request us to move a refugee family from ThaPhaPum to the refugee camp in Ratchaburi… through many police check points. Pitakkarn said it was too dangerous. So I asked UN help. They said the family first needed to register with UN office in Bangkok! I kept trying because the family were sick, frightened and they had already “lost” one daughter. Our local border police suggested I go to visit the area commander at Sai Yok. He was a most helpful person. He felt pity for the family, so he rang each check point and gave us clearance.

Yesterday morning, Darku and I travelled to ThaPhaPum area… up into the jungle we founf d them. A pitiful family. The eldest daughter had been killed at the hands of the Burmese Army while helping give medical assistance to village people. In a seperate incident, the father had received an injury on his right side. The remaining sons , wives and daughters together with three children escaped into Thailand.

We loaded them into the car, to spend an emotive day. Releif that someone was helping them move to safety; fear because they had no trust in us; awe as we travelled through police check point after check point without question; happiness as they ate good food and had milk for the children; and finally rest as the medication and realization that they were safe. A quiet worship time at Bilay’s house in the late afternoon. Today they will register at the Refugee Camp. Tired elation as Darku and I travelled back to Bamboo School.

How great is our God

The two weeks have just gone with highs and lows.. Firstly, Leslie went into pain spasms last Wednesday evening. I rushed her to Tanakarn Hospital in Kanchanaburi… They said she has a UTI, and gave antibiotics for home care. Both Leslie and I disagreed with this, so we proceeded toward Bangkok. However we had not gone too far when the pain became stronger, so we turned into Thai Muang Hospital. Here the treatment was great, and after an Ultrasound they referred Leslie to Nakorn Pratum hospital. She underwent surgery on Thursday morning, to repair a reptured Fibriod…. After recovering from surgery, Leslie decided to get a further check up at Bangkok, Sirijrat Hospital. She was admitted here last night as she continues in pain…. Po Kwarlay is with her. Please pray for them.

My strength is sufficient

Our school and the greater Bong Ti area has been hit with an outbreak of dengue fever, of the worst kind. Two deaths so far, and many in hospital. At Bamboo Clinic we are seeing more than 20 patients a day and making about 4 trips a day/night to Sai Yok hospital. Normal people have platelet counts of 150-400,000. Some of our patients are less than 30,000. We have three of our older kids in beds at Sai Yok, one transferring to Kanchanaburi today.

We are tired!! The average of 4 hours sleep per day, some of that snatched during the day, is taking a toll. today I am in Bangkok with a patient for a CAT scan, so Leslie is hold the fort. She is also tired, with her pregnancy and lack of full rest. However Amber is due to arrive next week and Somsee came home for a week to help. God keeps us going. Pray we stay close to Him..

Bekah is now on the move… She can crawl faster than I can… we had a race across the hospital floor yesterday… the first prize was a dead fly!!!

Sponsorship of kids

MomoCat July 3rd, 2010

As we come into the new month, and we have more work than ever, many of you generos people have sponsored, continued to sponsor the kids. It’s time for them to write to you again. Can you send me by email or letter, an update of yor addresses, your willingness to continue to sponsor the children. It’s going to be a tough year in Thailand, as the lack of rain has caused a lack of rice within Thailand… We eat more than 100 kgs of rice a week (yes a week) so this means we need to be more self sufficient in other ways. Pray that we see the blessings from God!

Bekah and John have each had a spell in hospital during most of June, so its good to have them home again. The village has been hit with a viral infection, so our small hospital was overflowing last night… some 8 people sleeping on the floor.. Not much sleep for the team of nurses in training.. we are still alive today though.
