Thanks giving

Before any American says that I am behind times, this was the title a buddhist university student gave to his prayer.  We had 44 students from Chulalongkorn University stay for a week, to help prepare the site for the hospital.  It was a stretch to our facilities (that which we have) and it was a week when Dokmai was sick.  Ho, hum.  My volunteers pulled together to make things happen.  Then Cody and his family (who are from building backgrounds) came too. Our activities all had to restricted to the dining room as the school building had become a dormitory.  It meant university students were jammed into our small kitchen, preparing their food, while we were in the adjacent dining room worshipping God.  At times we sang so loud, I am sure they all had headaches!

On the last night of the full week, we had a farewell bonfire party.  In the afternoon, Ruang came to ask if it was okay if he (a buddhist), prayed to our christian God.  Here is his prayer, as he wrote and spoke it:

Thanks giving

Dear Father in heaven, I thank you for this joyful moment that you have given us and for all the lovely faces of children and teachers in this

Bamboo School. Despite all the hard work and problems that we encounter through our time together, Lord, we would like to thank you for the energy, wisdom and safety that you have granted upon us through our work, friendships and unity amongst us.

Lord, we would never thank you enough for your love and care for us, in that you helped us to overcome all the problems and differences in our races, languages and religion.  Surely we know that you have blessed us so that we as students from

Chulalongkorn University can be a blessing to this land, so we can meet our new lovely friends in this village, and to make a change in our lives.

Lastly, we want to pray to you that you will give us fresh minds and spirit, in order for us to enjoy our last night together in

Bamboo School and make it a wonderful night that we will never forget.  We know you are a mighty God and that you will bring us together again.  In Jesus name, we pray.  Amen
